Description
This simple Goal Post Assembly avoids creating a situation with poor heat transfer and poor performance. It is for use in applications with a modulating steam load.
“So what does a Goal Post Assembly actually do? It’s actually really simple!” Skylar explains. “This air vent is a thermostatic capsule designed to cool off and open when exposed to trapped air inside the coil.”
Skylar goes on to describe how the air vent works. “Once the air has been released and the steam hits the capsule, it expands the capsule and closes the port trapping the steam inside the coil.”
He then describes the opposite end of the assembly. “On the other side we have a vacuum breaker which allows air to vent into the coil if the coil goes into a vacuum state.”
“So, you’re probably wondering, ‘why do we need this?'” Skylar then explains that the Goal Post design is critical for heat exchanger and steam coil applications. “99% of the time, these applications will have a modulating steam load.”
